Safety Awareness 2011

On Saturday, July 23, 2011 S.P. McClenahan Co., Inc. held what has become an annual event for all of the production staff Safety Awareness 2011. We take a day out of our typical production schedule to focus on communication, emergency response, and provide a forum for all staff members to share their knowledge and expertise with each other.

Built around Aerial Rescue training demonstrations, our local Los Altos Hills El Monte Fire Station was present to provide added realism, key points in an emergency situation, and hands-on demonstrations of victim first aid and stabilization.

Safety Awareness 2011 enabled all employees of S.P. McClenahan Co., Inc. the opportunity to learn more about the tree care industry, acquire new skills, demo new gear and equipment and demonstrate their abilities in front of their colleagues.

The success of our training was in large part due to the Los Altos Hills County Fire District, Vermeer Pacific’s Sherrill Tree show trailer, and a collaborative effort of all employees to learn in a team environment. We would like to again express our gratitude to all of the organizations that made Safety Awareness 2011 a success.

On Friday, July 22, 2011 S.P. McClenahan Co., Inc. partnered with North American Training Solutions of Loganville, Georgia to provide technical rigging training to a core group experienced climbers and foreman. The training built upon the elements of the first two days of training moving beyond technical climbing and work positioning to focus on technical rigging concepts, new rigging equipment, redirects, and rigging applications. The goal of our training was simple. Learn new methods while reinforcing existing work practices to provide a better and safer product for our loyal customer base.

Their unbelievable abilities to share knowledge of tree climbing and rigging, from aloft on a tree limb was an unforgettable experience for all who participated.

On Thursday, July 21, 2011 S.P. McClenahan Co., Inc. partnered with North American Training Solutions of Loganville, Georgia to provide technical climbing training to a core group of new and experienced climbers. The training built upon the first day of training moving beyond tree assessments, tree access, and various ascent methods to include technical climbing, new methods, and work positioning. Each element designed to not only to improve the safety of our work zones, but enhance our quality control program. The day long training advanced work zone competence, strengthened emergency response procedures and will enable a much improved work product for our customers.

A unique and unforgettable experience from this second full-day of training with North American Training Solutions was the classroom setting. All participants and instructors spent the day in the classroom of a Coast live oak canopy. In total 18 climbers experienced the ultimate hands-on training session from more than 40 feet aloft in a remarkable oak tree.

On Wednesday, July 20, 2011 S.P. McClenahan Co, Inc. partnered with North American Training Solutions of Loganville, Georgia to provide technical training to a core group of new climbers yearning for knowledge and hands-on training. The training focused on tree assessments, tree access, various ascent methods and climbing hitches. The day long training improved work zone competence, strengthened emergency response procedures and provided areas of improvement in the professionalism of our new climber staff.

A unique experience from this first full-day of training was the immediate installation of a safety culture that left no stone unturned. From the first discussion of the day to the end clean-up, everyone was reinvigorated with the values of communication, professionalism, and the “safety as a team” approach.

Safety Awareness 2010

On Tuesday, July 20, 2010 S.P. McClenahan Co., Inc. closed down field operations for the day to involve all employees in numerous activities geared to raise awareness towards safe work practices and emergency response procedures.

Safety Awareness 2010 enabled all employees of S.P. McClenahan Co., Inc. the opportunity to learn more about the tree care industry, acquire new skills, and demonstrate their abilities in front of their colleagues.

The success of our training was in large part due to the Los Altos Hills County Fire District, California Highway Patrol, Pacific STIHL, Sherrill Tree, and a collaborative effort of all employees to learn in a team environment. We would like to again express our gratitude to all of the organizations that made Safety Awareness 2010 a continued success.

Safety Awareness 2009

On Saturday, July 25, 2009 S.P. McClenahan Co., Inc. held their annual Aerial Rescue training and demonstrations. In an effort to amp up the training session and bolster the program the day was coined Safety Awareness 2009.

Safety Awareness 2009 was not just a day of safety training, but an opportunity to demo new equipment, receive training on specialized equipment, demo new climbing gear, and talk to actual emergency responders. This was made possible through the joint efforts of the Los Altos Hills County Fire District, Vermeer Pacific, and Sherrill Tree.

Safety Awareness 2009 was the kickoff of our 100 year celebration of Excellence in Arboriculture (1911 - 2011) and representative of our service commitment to Quality–Integrity–Confidence.
